What Are Your Products Actually Doing?

There are so many different products out on the market. It gets to be a little overwhelming when trying to figure out what products you are supposed to purchase. I have gotten this question so many times- “Emily what exactly do these products do?” Today that is what this post is all about! I will be doing a part 2, so you can get an inside exclusive look at what my favorite products are.

  • Cleansers-

    • It seems simple enough, they cleanse the skin. Cleansers dissolve/ removes makeup, impurities, dirt and naturally balances the pH of the skin.

In the world of cleansers there are so many choices. There are particular cleansers to help target skin concerns and the different skin types. Yes, oil skin has a different cleanser than dry skin.

    • How Often Do You Use This Product?

      • Morning & Night!

  • Toners-

    • A toner is a solution that is misted onto the skin after cleansing and prior to using any serums and moisturizers. Toners balance the skin’s natural pH to a neutral position. Toners are lightweight in consistency. The toners available at Rejuvenate can increase firmness and elasticity; even tone to skin while adding much needed hydration for a more radiant appearance.

    • How Often Do You Use This Product?

      • Morning & Night after Cleansing. You can also put this in your daily routine to freshen up your face throughout the day.

  • Exfoliators-

    • You may have heard of exfoliators as facial scrubs, scrubs, or exfoliants. The words vary, but the science behind it is the same. Exfoliators removed dead surface skin cells, exfoliating away dull, dry skin for a smooth and healthy skin texture.

      • Some exfoliators use enzymes that digest the dead skin cells and stimulate cell turnover.

      • Some have manual exfoliation that stimulates cell renewal and helps reduce fine lines.

    • How Often Do You Use This Product?

      • 2-3x weekly. Either Morning or Night. If you can’t do 2-3 weekly, 1 time minimum is what will help make a HUGE difference!

  • Masque-

    • A Masque, also known as a Mask, are placed onto the skin and left for 5-25 mins depending on the masque/ time-frame allotted. Masques can help hydrate, firm, draw out impurities, detox, balance skin tone, and plump, and boost collagen production. Honestly, masques are one of my all time favorite products.

      • Skin breaking out a little more than usual or feeling extra dry? Just throw on a mask, go about your business at home and boom clearing skin in a matter of minutes! (Of course when followed by proper serums and moisturizers)

    • Many [professional] masques are packed full of botanicals, antioxidants, topical probiotics, infused with Hyaluronic Acid and more to help target your skin concern and/or skin goals.

    • How Often Do You Use This Product?

      • 2x weekly. Either Morning or Night. If you can’t do 2x weekly, 1 time minimum is what will help make a HUGE difference!

      • Some masks work great as spot treatments for pesky breakouts and those spots can be left on overnight.

  • Serums-

    • Serum is a  product [or two] you apply to your skin after cleansing and toning. They have the ability of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. Serums help target the skin concerns we are struggling with; whether it is lack of hydration (dehydrated skin), oil control, brightening skin, evening skin tone (hyperpigmentation, ie. dark spots, sun spots, melasma)  or fine lines.

      • Yes, I have different serums to help target each of those concerns!

    • Serums are made up of smaller molecules therefore they can penetrate deeply into the skin and deliver high concentrations of the active ingredients.*

      • *Note* this can ONLY be done with PROFESSIONAL products. Over-the-counter products CAN’T legally penetrate into the skin. If you want to know more about that click- HERE after you’re done reading this one of course ;)

  • Moisturizers-

    • This product seems simple enough, just like cleansers. They moisturize your skin! These are placed onto the skin as the (nearly) final step, sealing in the serums and hydrating the skin. Yes, even if you have oily skin you need a moisturizer. Just like Cleansers, Moisturizers can be a bit overwhelming to know which one is good for your skin, but don’t fret that is what I am here to help you with!

    • After researching different descriptions on all the moisturizers I have at Rejuvenate; I can assure that each moisturiser is created to nourish, replenish, and deliver powerful ingredients to promote healthy, hydrated skin. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

    • How Often Do You Use This Product?

      • Morning & Night! Every.Single.Day!

        • For some, there may be two different moisturizers for AM & PM routines.

  • SPFs-

    • Protecting your skin from the Sun’s harmful rays and protecting your skin from free radicals that cause damage to our skin’s DNA.

    • These are applied to the skin the morning. Some SPFs can replace your moisturizer in the morning, if you use a hydrating one.

      • *No, your makeup with SPF will not pass for your daily SPF, unless you don’t want to fight off the fine lines and sun spots.

  • Eye Care-

    • Eye Care products are something we don’t think to always use. At Rejuvenate I have a Cream and a Gel which help nourish the thin layer of skin that sits under our eyes.

    • You will apply this product prior to moisturizing your skin. The reason it is the last product on my list is because you have to save the best for last! Our under eye skin is so incredibly thin and we need to remember to take care of it. Our eyes can show our tiredness, age, dark circles, stress, and/or sickness so why not make sure you give it a little attention and love by providing it with proper hydration/ treatment.

    • Check out these two descriptions from my eye care products below:

      • Eye Gel- Refresh and revitalize tired eyes with this lightweight gel formula. Cucumber + Plant Peptides work together to smooth the skin around the eye area and help rebuild the skin’s barrier while plumping up fine lines.

      • Eye Complex (Cream)- Instantly diminish the appearance of under eye circles and puffiness. Bilberry + Guava combine to protect the delicate eye area and minimize fine lines. Brighten and refresh and visibly firm the look of tired eyes.

Which one are you more drawn to? I am a huge fan of the Gel, personally! I am younger and my under eyes need that plumping boost.
